Hi guys, welcome to another #summersunday of fun! This week I created two versions of graduation hat ideas that were quick and easy to do!
Check it out below!
The first one, is cute because you can add some pictures of the good times you had in high school or in college.
Things you’ll need to make this:
Graduation hat
Pencil
Scissors
Scrapbook paper or Oak Tag Paper
Medium sized letters
String
Pictures
Gems and Jewels
Hot Glue Gun and Glue sticks
Here’s how to make it:
- Start by plugging in the glue gun and then leave it to the side to heat up.
- Then, measure and cut out the oak tag paper so it fits the graduation hat. Don’t forget to cut out the hole in the middle.
- Using the hot glue gun, glue down the paper and then figure out where you want to put the pictures on the hat. Cut the pictures into the shapes and sizes you would like.
- Next, glue the pictures down with your hot glue gun.
- Then, glue the string to the top parts of the picture to make it look like a string of photos hanging on the hat.
- Now, add the letters to say whatever message you would like. In this case, I wanted memories to be alone at the bottom for emphasize, but you can put the letter however you would like.
- Finally, glue jewels and gems wherever you’d like.
CheapFrills Tip: If you run out of one of the letters when writing out the sentence, don’t be afraid to get creative with the other letters to create a new letter. Let me know if you can see where I had to get creative with my hat!
This second one, is in reference to a song from the best Disney movie ever, Lion King. Simba sings a song called Just Can’t Wait to be King. So, instead of king I made it graduate. I added the feathers because in the movie Simba wears leaves around his head making him look like an older lion with a mane.
(I’m very disappointed in you if you haven’t seen it, but here is what I’m referring to.)
What you’ll need:
a Picture of Simba
Feathers
Letters
Hot Glue Gun and Glue Sticks
Scissors
Here’s how to make it:
- Start by plugging in the glue gun and then leave it to the side to heat up.
- Then, cut out Simba’s picture and glue it to the center of the hat. (I did not think this one needed an oak tag paper background, but you can add it if you’d like.)
- Next, figure where you want to add the letters and if necessary glue the letter down with hot glue to make them stay.
- After that, add red feathers to make a mane around Simba’s head.
- Finally, add gems and jewels wherever you’d like.
*All of the supplies were from Hobby Lobby and it ended up only being around $6!
I hope your crafting goes well and send me pictures if you use any of these ideas for your hats!! Follow me on Instagram @cheapfrills28 or @shreyabendre. See you next week!
